Optimization Tips To Boost Your Site Rankings

When you have created your website, there are several steps you can tips you can implement to start optimizing your site for search engines from the ground up. If you have selected strong keywords and keyword phrases, given your site its basic structure and drafted your content, then the next step is to optimize that content onpage.

Start by going through your content and identifying where you have used the keywords that you wish to be strongly identified in your site and in your message to your audience. What you are looking to do here is find a place that lends itself to having the keyword bolded, italicized or underlined. You only want to do this once, dont over do it. If you can see a spot that most naturally lends itself to this even better, as it affords more appeal for human viewers, not just the search engine crawlers.

Next look for a place that is suitable for a sub heading, somewhere around about the half way point in your webpage is ideal. This should have an html h2 header and should contain the second most important of your keywords. This guides both the human reader and the search engine crawler to the key points that you wish to be identified.

Moving upwards you next need to implement a page heading. This is the next step up from your subheading or h2 header and should include the most important keyword that you have selected. Your header should be identified by a h1 tag linked to the primary keyword. Once this is done you then want to place this all important heading somewhere in the top left hand side of the page or in the top, middle section of the web page.

The final step up is the top most heading, the actual page title. This is a crucial step to consider carefully. You should include the main keywords here and the fewer the better. When you make a strong title from your primary keywords, with out any unnecessary extras, you give your title more strength. The search engines give the words higher value when there are less of them and can show rapid results in boosting your page ranking.

Finally you should look at whether or not you have included any images or graphics on your page and have you labeled them correctly? Many people mistakenly forget to do this last vital step and you are missing an opportunity to include keyword rich tags when you skip this. An alt image tag is used to identify what the picture or graphic on the site is, either if the picture doesnt load or if being viewed by a blind person (it is read aloud). By using your keywords to identify your graphic or image, for example pet food image, you are adding a little extra weight when the search engines crawl your site. As with your other elements, dont over do it, there is more weight in doing it simply and effectively.

When you have completed these steps you will see that just a few small improvements upon your website will tweak your search engine results and make it a stronger contender in the search engine rankings. Competition is fierce, so take advantage of doing the little things to boost your site in a big way!
